Box Score NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY - Saint Peter's will return to New Jersey empty handed after losing against Niagara 0-3 (25-18, 25-16, 25-12) Sunday, afternoon in the Gallagher Center.
Marlena Budna led the Peacocks with 7 kills and 5 blocks, Meredith Przybocki followed with 4 blocks, and Kristina Nieves posted 5 kills and 2 blocks. Caitlinn Williams carried the team with 11 assists, and Kaitlyn Sitton trailed with 6 assists. Libero, Carolina Ruiz had a team high of 10 digs, and Williams followed with 7 digs.
The first set was rocky for Saint Peters as the Purple Eagles increased their lead with a 5-point run starting at 9-8, forcing the Peacocks into a timeout. From there the Purple Eagles outscored the Peacocks but Saint Peter's started to fight back with a 5- point run, cutting the score to 13-16. The Purple Eagles lead proved to be too high for Saint Peter's to catch up and Niagara finished the set 25-18.
In the second set, Niagara jumped out with a strong lead of 12-7. The Purple Eagles kept the lead allowing the Peacocks to only score 9 more points winning the set 25-16.
In the third set, Niagara quickly jumped ahead leading 13-3. Saint Peter's was unable to catch up to the Purple Eagles as they pulled away dominating the final set 25-12.
Next up the Peacocks will finish up non-conference play Sep. 28th at Fairleigh Dickinson, then head home to face MAAC hOURglass rival Rider on the Oct. 1st.
