Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ - Saint Peter's fell to Canisius in the Kossler Athletic Center, Saturday afternoon in MAAC play.
Leading the Peacocks was captain, Marlena Budna with a her season high of 13 kills. Following Budna was Freshman, Danielle Lopez wbo posted a career high of 11 kills, and an added of 9 digs.
The Peacocks got off to a rough start as the Griffs led the entire first set, winning 25-17.
Saint Peter's fired up as they started off the second set strong with 4 kills leading 15-10 at the midway point. Thanks to good passes, and Alison Makinen, the Peacocks kept the spark as three kills by Danielle Lopez and a sideout up the score 4-points to 18-13. Hard work paid off as the Peacocks took the set 25-18, as Amanda Colombo finished with a service ace.
The heat stayed as the third set started off with 1-point rallies. The Peacocks cooled down as the Griffs led 15-10 at the midpoint score. The Griffs were able to keep the lead as they took the third set 25-17.
The determining set was the let down for Saint Peter's. The Griffs started strong as they broke the 5-5 tie with a 6-point run. The Peacocks fought back as they regained the lead with a 7- point run leading by one point 17-16. Canisius managed to hold their own as they scored the last 9 points taking back the set 25-19.
The Peacocks fall to an overall 0-9 record and 0-3 in the MAAC.
Saint Peter's will finish up the weekend at Niagara on Sunday the 25th at 1pm. The Peacocks will then play at Fairleigh Dickinson on the 28th at 7pm.
