Box Score LOUNDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena won the rubber game of a three-game series against Saint Peter's 12-6 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) baseball action on Sunday.
Nick Ciocco (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) paced the Peacocks (9-36, 4-14 MAAC) with three hits, including a two-run homer and a solo home run to finish with three RBIs and two runs scored. The sophomore had two homers as a freshman and now has four for his career.
Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) added three hits, an RBI and a run scored and Jason Midkiff (Wanaque, N.J./Paramus Catholic) posted two hits, a run scored and an RBI while Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) recorded two hits and a run scored in the loss.
Dan Swain powered the Saints (17-28, 11-7 MAAC) with four hits, four RBIs and three runs scored. Phil Madonna added two hits, three RBIs and a run score while Dan Lowndes and Patrick Ortland each had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI in the winning effort.
Siena scored the first 11 runs of the game en route to a 12-6 win to take two of the three games against Saint Peter's on the weekend.
Jordan Bishop got the scoring started with an RBI single in the first to give the Saints a 1-0 edge. Ortland and Swain each added RBI singles and Bishop posted a run-scoring double in the second to increase the margin to 4-0.
Siena then broke the game open in the third with seven runs to take an 11-run lead. Lowndes started the rally with an RBI double to left center before Swain smacked a two-run single to right. After Brian Kelly coaxed a bases loaded walk, Madonna hit a bases-clearing three-run double down the left field line to cap the seven-run frame.
The Peacocks answered with four runs in the fourth to trim the margin to 11-4. Kristoffersen singled to center to open the inning before Moore singled to right field to put runners on the corners. James Spadaccini (Butler, N.J./Butler) plated Kristoffersen when he reached on a fielder's choice and then Midkiff brought home Moore on an RBI fielder's choice. Ciocco smacked a two-run homer to make it a seven-run game.
Ciocco drilled his second homer on the game in the sixth with his solo shot to left field to cut the margin to 11-5.
Swain answered for the Saints in the eight with an RBI double to give Siena a 12-5 advantage.
In the ninth, Mike Ionta (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) doubled to left center and scored on Moore's RBI single to right to set the final score at 12-6.
Anthony Assante (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) took the loss for the Jersey City team.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Saturday when it starts a three-game series against Manhattan. First pitch is 12 p.m.
