JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Quinnipiac rallied to a pair of victories to sweep a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) softball doubleheader on Saturday. The Bobcats won the opener 10-9 and then took the nightcap, 6-3.

In the opener, Saint Peter's jumped out to an 8-2 lead before Quinnipiac scored eight of the final nine runs to earn the victory.

After Harrison reached on a fielder's choice, Carlucci hit an opposite field triple to plate Harrison with the first run of the game.

The Bobcats then scored two runs in the third to grab a 2-1 lead. Keiliani Finley smacked a two-run single in the frame to momentarily give Quinnipiac the edge.

A seven-run third gave the Peacocks an 8-2 margin. Nicole Feoli (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington) singled, stole second and came around to score on Stacey Klempel's (Winter Garden, Fla./Ocoee) opposite field RBI double to right field. With one out, Jackie Riley (South Amboy, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) plated Klempel on a run-scoring single to right field before Storms smacked a double to right center to put runners at second and third. Harrison then doubled to center to bring home both Riley and Storms. With two outs, Kirsten Kelley (Seaford, N.Y./General Douglas McArthur) doubled home Harrison before Connors got a little help with a friendly bounce off the fence and over for a two-run homer to cap a seven-run inning.

Quinnipiac then started to make a comeback in the fourth thanks to consecutive RBI doubles by Heimbach and Magana to cut the margin to 8-4. In the fifth, the Bobcats made it a two-run game courtesy of a two-run homer by Edmands.

Carlucci got a run back for Saint Peter's with a solo homer in the fifth to give the Peacocks a 9-6 advantage.

Magana answered for the Bobcats with a run in the sixth on a run-scoring single to trim the margin to 9-7. Quinnipiac then scored three runs in the seventh. Edmands smacked her second homer of the day, but this time a two-run shot down the left field line to tie the game at 9 before a Heimbach RBI groundout handed the visitors a 10-9 victory after the Jersey City team went down in order in the nightcap.

The Peacocks jumped out to the advantage in the second game before the Bobcats scored the final six runs to complete the sweep, 6-3.

Saint Peter's used its power to jump out to a 3-0 lead in the nightcap. After Alyssa Cuevas (Sylmar, Calif./Bishop Alemany) doubled down the left field line, Storms smacked a two-run homer to right center before Harrison followed with a jack of her own for a three-run lead.

Quinnipiac tied the game in the fourth with three runs. Taylor Troyan smacked a solo homer before an Abby Johnson RBI infield single and Maria Ascher run-scoring double to center to knot the game at 3.

Ascher then gave the Bobcats the lead for good on a two-run homer to center for a 5-3 lead in the sixth.

The Peacocks got two-runners on in the sixth after Storms singled to right center and Harrison found the left side hole. Quinnipiac got out of the jam with a strikeout and a fielder's choice. Katie Strong then hit an RBI single in the seventh to add an insurance run for a 6-3 advantage.

In the seventh, Saint Peter's got the tying run to the plate with one out after a Candice Koch (Oreland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) double and a Klempel single only to see a double play end the game.

Alyssa Ruiz (Howell, N.J./Howell) and Tiffani Lambert (Lincroft, N.J./Middletown South) took the losses on the day.

The Peacocks return to action at Stony Brook on Sunday. Game time is 12 p.m.
