Box Score SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall defeated Saint Peter's 8-1 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.
Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) paced the Peacocks (6-31) with two hits while Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) added a hit and a run scored in the loss.
Zach Weigel fueled the Pirates (30-12) with two hits and two RBIs while Mike Alescio added a hit, a run scored and two RBIs in the winning effort.
Saint Peter's took the early lead before Seton Hall scored the final eight runs to earn the win and complete the two-game sweep against the Peacocks.
In the first, Kristoffersen singled to center and moved to third on Moore's base hit to right field. The duo then pulled off a double steal to help Kristoffersen cross the plate for a 1-0 lead for Saint Peter's.
Weigel gave Seton Hall the lead for good with a two-run triple to right in the third before the Pirates added four runs in the fourth for a 6-1 advantage. Alescio started the scoring with an RBI single to center before Rob Dadona hit a sacrifice fly. An RBI fielder's choice by Chris Chiradio and a sacrifice fly by Derek Jenkins capped the four-run stanza.
Alescio added a sacrifice fly in the fifth and Matt Fortin posted an RBI groundout in the sixth to seal the 8-1 win.
Steve Epstein (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) took the loss for the Peacocks.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Saturday at Marist. Game time is 1 p.m.
