Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. – Albany completed a three-game non-conference baseball sweep against Saint Peter's with a 5-2 victory on Sunday.
Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) and Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) each had a hit and an RBI for the Peacocks (5-26) while Angel Perez (Jersey City, N.J./Marist HS) and Mike Ionta (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) both registered a hit and a run scored in the loss.
Matt Hinchy, Evan Hastra and Tre Todd each posted a hit and an RBI for the Great Danes (13-19) while Will Miller recorded three hits and a run scored in the winning effort.
Albany scored five runs in the first five innings and then held off a Saint Peter's comeback attempt to earn the victory.
Miller got the scoring started with a triple while touching home on an error before Harasta hit an RBI single up the middle to give the Great Danes a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
Albany added a run in the second when Karson Canaday scored as part of attempted double steal to extend the advantage to three runs. Hinchy plated a run in the third on an RBI infield single and Todd registered a run-scoring single to right field in the fifth to give the hosts a 5-0 margin.
The Peacocks struck back with two runs in the eighth to cut the margin to 5-2. After Perez reached on a fielder's choice and Ionta walked with one out, Kristoffersen plated Perez on an RBI single to right and Moore followed with a run-scoring single through the right side to bring home Ionta. With runners on first and second, the Great Danes got out of the threat with the tying run at the plate on a double play to end the eighth.
Anthony Assante (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) took the loss for Saint Peter's.
The Peacocks return to action on Tuesday at St. John's. Game time is 3 p.m.
