Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh defeated Saint Peter's 6-3 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.
Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) paced the Peacocks (4-15) with two hits and an RBI. Nick Ciocco (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) added a hit and two RBIs while Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) registered a hit and two runs scored in the loss.
James Bleming hit a two-run homer for the Mountain Hawks (9-14) while David Young recorded two hits, a run scored and an RBI in the winning effort.
Lehigh scored five times in the third to take the lead it would not relinquish and went on for the victory.
Bleming got the scoring started with a two-run homer to left field in the third before Patrick Donnelly added an RBI double, Young smacked an RBI single up the middle and Mackey Price coaxed a bases loaded walk to cap off the five-run inning.
Saint Peter's answered with a run in the sixth. Kristoffersen doubled to right field and came around to score on Moore's RBI single up the middle to trim the margin to 5-1.
The Peacocks then made it a two-run game after scoring twice in the eighth. Gary Puente (Linden, N.J./Linden) started the rally with a single up the middle. After Kristoffersen walk, Ciocco doubled home both runners to left center to cut the margin to 5-3.
Anthony Rinaldi hit a run-scoring double in the eighth to seal the 6-3 victory for the Mountain Hawks.
Steve Epstein (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) took the loss for Saint Peter's while Tommy Toole (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) allowed one hit with one strikeout in 3.1 innings pitched in his first appearance on the mound.
The Peacocks returns to action on Saturday when they start a three-game series with a doubleheader against Niagara. First pitch is 12 p.m.
