Villanova Clips Saint Peter's Baseball, 7-3

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – Villanova defeated Saint Peter's 7-3 in non-conference baseball action on Friday.

Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) and Angel Perez (Jersey City, N.J./Marist HS) each posted two hits and a run scored for the Peacocks (3-8) while James Spadaccini (Butler, N.J./Butler) added a hit and a run scored in the loss.

Donovan May paced the Wildcats (7-12) with three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs while Adam Goss added a hit, a run scored and two RBIs in the winning effort.

Villanova scored the first six runs of the game and never looked back to avenge a 5-1 loss to Saint Peter's from Sunday with a 7-3 decision in the Big Five Baseball Bash.

Kevin Jewitt got the scoring started with an RBI single up the middle in the first inning for a 1-0 edge.

The Wildcats added five runs in the second inning thank to a two-run double down the right field line by May and a two-run triple by Goss before Todd Czinege capped the rally with a sacrifice fly for a 6-0 lead.

The Peacocks got a run back in the fourth. Spadaccini reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second when Jason Midkiff (Wanaque, N.J./Paramus Catholic) singled to left field and touched home on an error after Tommy Toole (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) singled.

Villanova added a run in the fourth when May crossed the plate on a double steal attempt for a 7-1 lead.

In the fifth, Perez singled to center and Kristoffersen doubled to right to put runners at the corners for Saint Peter's before Perez scored on a balk. Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) hit an RBI ground out to plate Kristoffersen and set the final score at 7-3.

Toole added two hits on the afternoon and Jake Regina (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) took the loss for the Peacocks.

Saint Peter's concludes the Big Five Baseball Bash on Saturday at La Salle with a doubleheader. First pitch is 12 p.m. John Leiter (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South), the current Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week takes the hill in the opener and Anthony Assante (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) will take the hill in the seven-inning nightcap.
