Box Score The Saint Peter's University Peacocks fell to the Monmouth University Hawks 71-52 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's basketball action on Sunday.
Sajanna Bethea (Levittown, Pa. / Pennsbury) tallied nine points and eight rebounds. Marcia Senatus (Roselle, N.J. / Trenton Catholic), Talah Hughes (Beacon, N.Y. / Beacon), and Bridget Whitfield (San Diego, Calif. / La Costa Canyon) also added nine points apiece.
Jamiyah Bethune paced the Hawks with 16 points and five rebounds. Tyese Purvis followed with 11 points while Jasmine Walker added 10 points.
1ST PERIOD
The Hawks went on a 14-0 run in the beginning of the first quarter. The Peacocks were able to get on the board, but ended the quarter trailing 10-24.
2ND PERIOD
The Hawks pulled further away from the Peacocks, ending the quarter 40-23.
3RD PERIOD
The teams rallied back and forth but the Hawks were able to stretch their lead further, ending the quarter up 62-38.
4TH PERIOD
The Hawks were able to keep the lead for the remainder of the game. A jumper by Neechelle Ingram (Pocono Summit, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East) brought the score to 52-71, solidifying the win for Monmouth.
The Peacocks will head to Albany, NY on March 3 for the MAAC Tournament Open Round at 1:30pm.
