The Saint Peter's men's and women's track teams placed 5th overall at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championship meet on Sunday.
Kenneth Brosier (Willingboro, N.J. / Burlington County Institute of Tech.) placed first in the 400-meter dash, running 48.58 seconds. Dexter Valley (West Orange, NJ / West Orange High School) placed second, running 49.28 seconds. Jermaine Lascelles (Bloomfield, Conn. / Bloomfield) cleared a height of 2.07 meters, placing first in the high jump while Aondofa Anyam (Exton, Pa. / Church Farm School) cleared a height of 1.99 meters, placing second.
The Monmouth University Hawks placed first with 170 points. Manhattan followed with 126 points. Rider scored 96 points while Iona tallied 85 points and Saint Peter's followed with 83 points. Marist, Canisius, and Siena filled the last three spots.
On the women's side, the Monmouth Hawks placed first with 205 points. Quinnipiac came in second with 133 points while Manhattan and Rider followed with 100 points apiece. Saint Peter's tallied 33 points while Iona, Marist, Siena, and Canisius filled the last four spots.
The Saint Peter's men's team dominated the 60 meter dash finals. Michael Marcano (Roselle, NJ / Roselle Catholic) came in 2nd overall with a time of 6.71 seconds. Shaka Shomari (Hempstead, N.Y. / Holy Trinity High School) and Nkosi Pile (Atlanta, Ga. / The Church Farm) placed fifth and sixth, running 7.01 and 7.02 seconds, respectively.
Shomari paced the Peacocks in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.00, placing third overall. Pile followed, placing fourth, with a time of 22.05.
The men's 4x4 team placed third overall, running a time of 3:20.36. Dominique Ware (Penns Grove, N.J. / Penns Grove) jumped 6.74 meters in the long jump while Wellington Brown (Union, NJ / Union High School) jumped 6.59 meters.
Meredith Przybocki (Pine Bush, N.Y. / Pine Bush) placed third in the high jump with a leap of 5.05m to pace the women's team.
Nkeka Pinheiro (Ajax, Ontario / Ajax) placed seventh overall on the women's 200 meter dash, running 25.64 seconds. The women's 4x4 placed fifth overall, running 4:05.04.
The men's and women's distance medley relays both placed eighth overall. The women's team ran 13:40.58 and the men's team ran 10:52.28.
The Peacocks will head back to the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, NY on Saturday for the Fastback Last Chance Meet. This will be the last opportunity for each runner to qualify for the ECAC/IC4A Championships at the Track & Tennis Center on Boston held on March 5 and 6.
