Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's Peacocks (4-21, 2-14 MAAC) were defeated by the Quinnipiac Bobcats (17-7, 12-3 MAAC) 65-53 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's basketball action on Sunday.
Sajanna Bethea (Levittown, Pa. / Pennsbury) paced the Peacocks with 15 points and seven rebounds while Talah Hughes (Beacon, N.Y. / Beacon) tallied 12 points and six rebounds. Bridget Whitfield (San Diego, Calif. / La Costa Canyon) put up eight points and five rebounds.
Aryn McClure and Maria Napolitano led the Bobcats with 14 points apiece while Adily Martucci scored 13 points.
1ST PERIOD
The teams rallied back and forth but the Peacocks were able to push ahead, ending the quarter 15-12.
2ND PERIOD
A three-point basket by Napolitano tied the game at 25-25. Bethea made a layup, but McClure and Martucci scored field goals, taking the lead 29-27.
3RD PERIOD
The Bobcats began the quarter with an 8-0 run. The Peacocks were unable to close the gap, ending the quarter trailing 42-50.
4TH PERIOD
A layup by Bethea brought the deficit to six early in the fourth quarter. The teams went back and forth but the Peacocks were unable to catch up.
The Peacocks will head to Rider University to face the Broncs on Thursday at 7pm.
