Box Score LOUDONVILLE, NY – Saint Peter's men's soccer fell, 2-1, on Saturday evening to Siena College. The loss drops the Peacocks MAAC record to 2-4 on the season.
"We didn't start the game as well as we were looking to and got punished for two mistakes," said head coach Julian Richens. "It was a different second half as we took the game to Siena and had some very good opportunities to at least tie the game."
Siena scored the first goal of the game a little under nine minutes into the match. Junior Rosero found the back of the net off an assist from Conor McGlynn. The second first half goal for the Saints came in the 20th minute from J.C. Obregon, giving Siena a 2-0 edge. The Peacocks were outshot, 14-4 in the first half by the Saints.
In the second half, Reece Lambert got the Peacocks on the board with a goal that he put in the far left post, cutting the deficit to 2-1 with a little under 15 minutes remaining in the match. Saint Peter's would fail to score the equalizer, only getting a wide shot by Louis Mobbs in the 81st as the lone opportunity after the goal.
Jamie Cleland made five saves in the goal for the Peacocks. His record drops to 2-7-2 on the season.
The Peacocks will be back in action on Wednesday, October 19 at 4:00 p.m. in Buffalo, New York at Canisius.
