Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's Peacocks (4-16, 2-9 MAAC) fell to the Siena College Saints (12-10, 9-3 MAAC) 64-55 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action on Saturday.
Talah Hughes (Beacon, N.Y. / Beacon) paced the Peacocks with 11 points and five rebounds. Sajanna Bethea (Levittown, Pa. / Pennsbury) followed with 10 points and eight rebounds while Janelle Mullen (Ozone Park, N.Y. / The Hun School of Princeton) and Marcia Senatus (Roselle, N.J. / Trenton Catholic) tallied seven points apiece.
Denisha Petty-Evans led the Siena Saints with 19 points and five rebounds. Jackie Benitez tallied 14 points while Kollyns Scarbrough scored 11 points and recorded six rebounds.
1ST PERIOD
The Peacocks started the first quarter with a 7-0 run. The teams then rallied back and forth with field goals by Deja Rawls, Meghan Donohue, and Denisha Petty-Evans. The Saints trailed by six (15-9) at the end of the quarter.
2ND PERIOD
The teams went back and forth until a jump shot by Jackie Benitez of the Saints tied the game at 19-19. Siena then gained the lead and kept it for the rest of the quarter, ending 34-25.
3RD PERIOD
The Peacocks attempted to close the deficit, but the Saints were able to hold them off, ending the quarter leading 52-34.
4TH PERIOD
A 6-0 run early in the fourth quarter brought the score to 59-43. The Peacocks later went on a 7-0 toward the end of the quarter but the Saints were able to maintain the lead, ending the game 64-55.
The Peacocks will head to Quinnipiac University to face the Bobcats on Tuesday at 7pm.
