Box Score The Manhattan Jaspers defeated Saint Peter's women's basketball 63-47 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action on Thursday.
Hala Mostafa recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Talah Hughes (Beacon, N.Y. / Beacon) and Janelle Mullen (Ozone Park, N.Y. / The Hun School of Princeton) both tallied seven points.
Amani Tatum paced the Jaspers with 16 points. Taylor William followed with 11 points and five rebounds while Blake Underhill tallied nine points and five rebounds.
1st period
The Jaspers went on a 12-0 run in the first carter. Mostafa put the run to a halt with a layup. Marcia Senatus (Roselle, N.J. / Trenton Catholic) drained a jumper, bringing the score to 12-4 with Manhattan in the lead.
2nd period
The Peacocks attempted to close the gap with field goals by Mostafa and Bridget Whitfield (San Diego, Calif. / La Costa Canyon). The Jaspers maintained the lead, ending the quarter at 29-19.
3rd period
The teams rallied back and forth in the third quarter, but the Jaspers were able to increase the deficit, ending with the Peacocks trailing by 17.
4th period
The Jaspers were able to pull away from Saint Peter's all the way to the end of the game, ending with a score of 63-48.
The Peacocks head to Poughkeepsie, NY on Monday to play the Marist Red Foxes at 7pm.
