PREGAME SERVE- Tuesday's match against the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn will be the 15th all time meeting between to two schools. The Peacocks lost the first ever match back in 1984, but have rallied back to a 10-4 all time record against the Terriers. The last match between the two teams resulted in a Peacock victory by a score of three sets to one.
THE WORD ON THE TERRIERS- The Terriers are still on the hunt for their fist victory of the season, going 0-7 thus far. Similar to the Peacocks, SFU played Lehigh University and lost by a score of 3-1. This match took place in Harrisonburg, Virginia at the James Madison Classic.
LAST MATCH- The Peacocks took on the Knights of Farleigh Dickinson for their third and final game of the Crosstown Tournament. They would eventually end the tournament on a high note, as they beat the Knights by a score of 3-2 for their first win of the season. This would be the first win for Head Coach Monica Dempsey as a Peacock.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT- Freshman Marlena Budna was named to the Crosstown Tournament All-Tournament Team this past weekend. In her first three collegiate games, she was very impressive collecting 16 kills and 13 digs.
WELCOME BACK- The Peacocks are returning three players from the 2014 season, in Lauren Behrens, Amanda Colombo and Kaitlyn Sitton. Behrens, who begins her senior year on Friday, has been a starter ever since her freshman year in 2012. Behrens also led the team in kills last season with 316.
WELCOME TO THE FLOCK- Women's Volleyball Head Coach Monica Dempsey will be welcoming five freshman to the team this season. MacKenzie Alvarez, Marlena Budna, Sharon Gonzalez, Kenyale McGinnis and Greta Varvell will all be playing their first collegiate game on Friday.
GARDEN STATE OF MIND- Amanda Colombo, hailing from Wallington, New Jersey, is the only member of the team from the Garden State.
OUT OF STATE- The 2015 Women's Volleyball team has quite the traveled roster this season, having seven players from outside of New Jersey. As we already know, Behrens is from Illinois, and Sitton is from Washington. For the newcomers, Alvarez is from Maryland, Budna and Gonzalez are from neighboring state New York, McGinnis is from Texas and lastly Varvell is from the other side of the country, California.
PRESEASON POLL- The 2014 MAAC Champion Siena Saints, have been chosen as the preseason favorites for the 2015 season. Right behind them, tied for second, is Fairfield and Manhattan. Saint Peter's was chosen as 10th.
