Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Siena downed Saint Peter's 3-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's volleyball action on Saturday. The Saints won the three sets by margins of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-15.
Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) paced the Peacocks (1-8, 0-2 MAAC) with eight kills and six digs while Marlena Budna (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fort Hamilton) posted seven digs and five kills and Kaitlyn Sitton (Brush Praire, Wash./Praire) had a team-best 20 assists in the loss.
Briana Flagg paced Siena (6-6, 3-0 MAAC) with a double-double after tallying 17 kills and 10 digs while Haley Howell also registered a double-double with 11 digs and 38 assists in the winning effort.
Siena won all three sets to earn the straight sets victory against Saint Peter's.
In the first set with the Saints leading 9-8, Siena used an 8-3 run to grab a 17-11 advantage. The Peacocks were able to trim the margin to 18-14 only to see Siena close the set on a 7-1 spurt to take the opening set, 25-15.
Saint Peter's jumped out to a 9-4 edge in the second set thanks to a pair of kills apiece from Behrens and Budna along with two service aces. After the Saints rallied to tie the game at 16, an Amanda Colombo (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) kill and two Siena attack errors regained the lead for the Peacocks at 19-16. With Saint Peter's holding a 20-17 edge, the Saints ended the set on a 9-2 run to earn a 25-21 win and a two sets lead.
Siena then closed the match by using a 7-1 run with the Saints leading 12-9 and a 13-6 run to close the third and final set.
The Peacocks return to action on Sunday at home against Marist. Match time is 1 p.m.
