Box Score GAME 1- Saint Peter's 0, Providence 3
Head Coach Monica Dempsey and the Women's Volleyball team headed up to Providence, Rhode Island for three matches in the 11th Annual Friar Classic this weekend. Their first match was against the Big East representative, Providence College, on Friday afternoon. The Friars came into the match 4-4 on the season, and by the end of the night their record would go over .500 for the first time on the season.
The Friars would eventually win the match with a 3-0 shutout. Amanda Colombo led the Peacocks with eight kills in the match, and right behind her was Greta Varvell with seven of her own. The Peacocks had no answer for freshman Emily Horner, who led the Friars with 10 kills, and leading her team to the victory.
GAME 2- Saint Peter's 1, Lafayette 3
In the second game for the Peacocks in the Annual Friar Classic, they would face the Lafayette Leopards for the second time this season. The Peacocks however wouldn't be able to beat them this time around either, as the Leopards won by a score of 3-1, now leading the season series 2-0.
Junior Amanda Colombo led the way for the second match in a row, having 14 kills. Senior Lauren Behrens was right behind her with nine kills of her own. Greta Varvell lead the team with 20 digs on the defensive end, however the great effort displayed by these three players would fall short in the 3-1 defeat. This loss would bring the Peacocks record to 1-5 on the season.
GAME 3- Saint Peter's 0, Farleigh Dickinson 3
In the third and final game in the Classic for the Peacocks, SPU took on Farleigh Dickinson, also for the second time this season. After beating them 3-2 in the first matchup last weekend, the Farleigh Dickinson Knights would come back with a vengeance. FDU had played Lafayette and Providence in that order before playing SPU, and would win the first and lose the second. They would eventually head back home with a winning record on the tournament, as they beat the Peacocks 3-0.
Lauren Behrens and Greta Varvell were co-leaders in the kill column, each having 11 of their own. Amanda Colombo and Kaitlyn Sitton finished first and second in the dig column, having 14 and 13. These efforts wouldn't be enough for the Peacocks to scrounge up a victory in the Classic, as they would finish the tournament with a record of 0-3, making their 2015 season record to 1-6.
