Box Score WORCHESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross defeated Saint Peter's 4-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Friday night.
Taylor McLean (Oakville, Onario/Holy Trinity Catholic) made seven saves for the Peacocks (1-5-1) while Brooke Tartis (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) had a team-high three shots and Alix Couto (Wall, N.J./Wall) registered two shots in the loss.
Christina Callahan posted the Crusaders (2-3-1) first two goals of the night and Megan Greineder and Annie Galvin also found the back of the net while Courtney Cohen handed out an assist on three of the four goals of the match.
Holy Cross scored twice quickly in the first half and never looked back en route to the win in the first-ever meeting against Saint Peter's.
Callahan got the scoring started when she found the twine off feeders from Cohen and Galvin at the 3:40 mark. Cohen found Callahan again 40 seconds later to give the Crusaders a 2-0 lead going into the break.
Cohen recorded a natural assist hat trick when she connected with Galvin at the 48:02 mark before Grieneder capped the 4-0 win with an assisted tally at 55:28.
The Peacocks had a couple of chances to score, but could not convert. Tartis had shots stopped by the Holy Cross netminder in the 36th and 70th minutes while Couto may have had the best opportunity on the night when she hit the cross bar in the 72nd minute.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Sept. 19 when the squad opens up Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at Siena. Match time is 1 p.m.
