JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Wagner defeated Saint Peter's 4-2 in non-conference women's soccer action on Wednesday. The Peacocks were making their Jaroschak Field debut on the afternoon.
Newcomers Brooke Tartis (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) and Jasmine Diaz (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hallows East) each notched their first tallies in Saint Peter's (0-2-0) uniform while Carlee Gonzalez (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) dished out an assist on Diaz's goal.
Megan Fritz recorded two goals for the Seahawks (1-2-0) while Peyton Beck and Maria D'Amico also found the twine in the winning effort.
Wagner scored three times in the second half to earn its fifth-straight win in the series and gain a 9-8-1 margin in the all-time series.
Fritz scored the first two markers of the afternoon, giving the Seahawks a 1-0 lead going into halftime off an assist from Samantha Jensen.
Fritz then increased the margin to the Staten Island program when she found the back of the net in the 54th minute for a 2-0 edge.
Tartis converted a penalty kick after a foul in the box to trim the margin to 2-1 in the 62nd minute.
Wagner answered right back with a pair of goals to take a 4-1 advantage thanks to a Beck goal off a Victoria Roda assist in the 68th minute and a D'Amico tally off a feed from Jessica Mouradian in the 75th minute.
The Peacocks quickly answered with a goal to trim the margin to 4-2 when Diaz scored off a pass from Gonzalez, but Saint Peter's could get no closer.
Taylor McLean (Oakville, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic) made six saves for Saint Peter's while Jessica Wilm had six stops for Wagner.
The Peacocks hit the road for the first time this season at Lafayette on Sunday. Match time is 12 p.m.
