WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Saint Peter's track and field team completed day one of the 2015 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
The Monmouth men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are atop the leaderboards following the first day of action The Hawks' men's squad finished the day with 61 points, in front of second-place Manhattan who earned 51 points, rounded out by Rider (50), Iona (45), Canisius (12), Marist (12) and Saint Peter's (2).
The Monmouth women's team has 67 points, followed by the Jaspers with 52 points. Rounding out the day is Rider (43), Quinnipiac (37), Iona (23), Saint Peter's (16), Marist (14), Canisius (12) and Niagara (8).
Alexandra Moffatt (Smithville, T.X / Smithville) finished second overall in the women's pole vault with a vault of 3.50-meters. Shenell Garner (Cocoa Beach, Fla. / Cocoa Beach) placed in the top-10 in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 37.10-meters. Alyssa Lindenbaum, Madeleine Feeney (Jersey City, N.J. / St. Dominic) and Amanda Marcelin (West Orange, N.J. / West Orange) rounded out the finishes for the Peacocks. In the women's shot put, Aicha Elola (Jersey City, N.Y. / Lincoln) finished fifth overall with a throw of 12.13-meters.
In the women's high jump, Jennifer Cajou (Amityville, N.Y. / Farmingdale) finished sixth overall with a leap of 5.21-meters to collect three points for the team. In the men's high jump, Jermaine Lascellas (Bloomfield, Conn. / Bloomfield) finished in the top-10 with a jump of 6.43-meters.
In the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, Georgie Nicholes (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) notched a top-10 finish with a 12:04.31 effort.
Saint Peter's returns to action tomorrow for the final day of the Outdoor Championships.
