Box Score

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Saint Peter's scored the first six runs of the game and then held off Seton Hall for a 6-4 victory in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.

Kyle Grimes (Iselin, N.J./JFK Memorial) paced the Peacocks (9-28-1) with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Chris Hugg (Ironia, N.J./Randolph) added three hits and a run scored.

Willie Krajnik (Lyndhurst, N.J./Saint Mary) pitched five strong innings, allowing two runs on three hits for his first collegiate win while Tommy Toole (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) pitched the final inning to notch his first career save. Krajnik did not allow a hit until the fifth inning.

Sal Annunaiata paced the Pirates (20-18) with two hits, an RBI and a run scored in the loss.

Saint Peter's scored the first six runs of the day and then held off a Seton Hall comeback attempt to split the season series and earn a win against the Big East program for the second-straight year.

After putting runners on second and third with one out in the first without scoring a run, the Peacocks got on the scoreboard with two runs in the second.

Jose Martinez (Brown Mills. N.J./Remberton Township) singled through the left side and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After Christopher Micak (Edison, N.J./Metuchen) singled on a blooper to second, Sean Henry (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) played Martinez on an RBI single to center before Grimes brought Micak home on an RBI single to center for a 2-0 edge.

Saint Peter's added a run in the third. Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) reached on a fielder's choice, moved to third on Nick Henriquez's (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) single through the left side and then touched home on Martinez's sacrifice fly to right for a three-run lead.

The Peacocks then posted three runs in the fourth without a base hit to increase the margin to 6-0.

With one out, Grimes, Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) and Hugg walked to load the bases before Moore coaxed a bases loaded walk to score Grimes. Kristoffersen came home on Henriquez's sacrifice fly and then Hugg touched home on an error.

After being no-hit through four innings, Seton Hall got on the scoreboard with two runs in the fifth. Rob DaDona plated the first run on an RBI groundout before Ryan Ramiz brought home the second run when he beat out an infield base hit to trim the margin to 6-2.

The Pirates added a run in the sixth courtesy of a balk and then cut the deficit to 6-4 on an Annunziata RBI single in the eighth.

Saint Peter's returns to action this weekend for a three-game series at Fairfield. The two teams will square off in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.
