Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) smacked two home runs and John Leiter (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) allowed one run in a complete-game effort to propel Saint Peter's to a 4-1 victory against Siena in game two of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) baseball doubleheader on Saturday. The Saints took the opener, 10-4.

Moore smacked solo home runs in the first and the third innings to count for two of the four runs in the nightcap while Leiter allowed one run on five hits with 10 strikeouts to earn a complete-game seven inning victory for his second-straight win. Moore also had a hit, an RBI and a run scored in the opener.

Chris Hugg (Ironia, N.J./Randolph) posted four hits, including a solo homer in the second game for the Peacocks (8-25-1, 6-8 MAAC) while Jose Martinez (Brown Mills, N.J./Remberton Township) added two hits and an RBI in the opener.

Brian Fay powered the Siena (14-21, 7-4 MAAC) with two hits and four RBIs while Tyler Martis went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored in the opener.

Saint Peter's used the long ball to score three of its four runs to come away with a 4-1 win in the second game to earn the split in the twinbill to set up the rubber game on Sunday.

The Peacocks got on the scoreboard with two runs in the first inning thanks to some Peacocks power supply. After Moore hit a ball hugged the line but was called foul, the junior took the next pitch over the right field fence. Hugg, the next batter, took the first pitch he saw over the left field fence to give Saint Peter's a 2-0 lead.

Moore went yard in his second at-bat in the third to increase the lead to 3-0.

The Saints trimmed the margin to 3-1 with a Fay RBI single in the sixth.

The Peacocks restored a three-run lead with a run in the bottom of the inning to seal the 4-1 victory. Nick Henriquez (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) reached on an error, moved to second on a failed pickoff and touched home on Vinny Maietta's (Franklin Square, N.J./St. Marys) RBI groundout.

In the opener, Siena used a seven-run third to take the advantage and never looked back to take a 10-4 victory.

Saint Peter's grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a run in the first. With one out, Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) walked and moved to second on Hugg's single and touched home on Moore's run-scoring single through the right side.

The Saints then posted seven runs in the third to take control of the game. After Fay tied the game with a bases loaded walk, Dave Hoffman was hit with the pitch, Joe Drpich walked and Alex Tuccio was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in runs. Fred Smart knocked in a run on an RBI ground out and Martis, who started the rally with a single, capped the inning with a two-run single to left for a 7-1 margin.

In the fourth, Moore walked and moved to third when Henriquez reached on error before Martinez hit an RBI single to bring home Moore to trim the margin to 7-2.

Siena then added three runs in the fifth to increase its advantage to 10-2. Dan Swain tripled home a run and Fay doubled home two runs in the stanza.

The Peacocks came back with a run in the fifth after Sean Henry (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) singled up the middle and moved to third on Nick Ciocco's (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) single to right before Kristoffersen singled up the middle to bring home Henry to cut the deficit to 10-3.

Saint Peter's added a run in the sixth to set the final score at 10-4. Henriquez doubled to left center, Martinez singled and Henry walked to load the bases before Kyle Grimes (Iselin, N.J./JFK Memorial) coaxed a bases loaded walk to force Henriquez home with the fourth run of the day.

Kevin Soriano (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) took the loss for the Peacocks.

Saint Peter's returns to action against Siena in the final game of a three-game series on Sunday. First pitch is 12 p.m. The Peacocks are 0-4 this season in the final game  of a league three-game set.
