The Red Foxes regained the lead at 13:27 with a 3-pointer from Blais. The two teams would continue to trade baskets, tying the game at 52.

The game remained close in the first half with neither team taking a lead larger than five points. Tied up at 19, Marist used a 7-2 spurt to create a 26-21 advantage. Saint Peter's closed the half of a 7-3 run to only trail 28-27 going into the locker room.
