Box Score HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac defeated Saint Peter's 82-52 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's basketball contest on Thursday afternoon.
Hala Mostafa (Cairo, Egypt / Modern Narmer Language School) paced Saint Peter's (3-23, 3-14 MAAC) with nine points, five assists and a career-best 11 rebounds. Sajanna Bethea (Levittown, Pa. / Pennsbury) finished with 13 points and five rebounds in the losing effort.
Val Driscoll fueled Quinnipiac (24-3, 16-0 MAAC) with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Samantha Guastella scored 13 points while Jasmine Martin recorded 12 points in the win.
The Bobcats held the Peacocks to 27.3% shooting to remain undefeated in league play and earn the season-sweep of the Peacocks.
Quinnipiac opened up the first half with a 7-0 run and would open up a 22-10 advantage with 6:56 left on the clock. Foul trouble plagued the Peacocks in the first half, as the Bobcats took 14 free attempts advancing to a 33-17 lead heading into halftime.
The Bobcats outscored the Peacocks 49-35 in the second half. Though Saint Peter's got things going offensively, Quinnipiac shot 56.3% from the field en route to the victory.
Alyssa Velles (Franklin, Conn. / Norwich Free Academy) scored 11 points in the contest, while Talah Hughes (Beacon, N.Y. / Beacon) finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Feb. 21, when the team returns to the Yanitelli Center to host Manhattan. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
