Talah Hughes Recorded A Career High 15 Points In Loss To Seton Hall 81-65

The Peacocks (1-9, 0-2 MAAC) were defeated by the Seton Hall University Pirates (10-1, 0-0 BE) 81-65 in women's non-conference basketball action on Sunday.

Talah Hughes (Beacon, N.Y. / Beacon) paced the Peacocks with a career-high 15 points and six rebounds. Sajanna Bethea (Levittown, Pa. / Pennsbury) tallied 14 points and five rebounds while Neechelle Ingram (Pocono Summit, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East) added a career-high 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists. 

Shakena Richardson of the Pirates scored the first two field goals of the game. Bridget Whitfield (San Diego, Calif. / La Costa Canyon) followed with a jump shot. Samantha Meier (San Diego, Calif. / La Costa Canyon) tied the game early with another jump shot. Alesha Powell of the Pirates then hit a three-pointer bringing the score to 7-4. The Pirates led in the first quarter until a jump shot by Talah Hughes put the Peacocks in the lead by one. The score was tied 17-17 at the end of the quarter. 

The teams rallied back and forth in the second quarter, frequently tying until an 8-0 run put the Pirates in the lead. 

T. Richardson-Smith scored the first two field goals of the third quarter. Two free throws by Talah Hughes brought the score to 51-38. The Peacocks attempted to lose the gap with a three-pointer by Marcia Senatus (Roselle, N.J. / Trenton Catholic) and a lay up by Hala Mostafa (Cairo, Egypt / Modern Narmer Language School). The score was 63-49 at the end of the third quarter. 

Sajanna Bethea and Hala Mostafa hit the first field goals for the Peacocks in the fourth quarter. LaTecia Smith of the Pirates brought the score to 75-56. Ingram hit two jump shots in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Peacocks were too far behind ending the game with a score of 81-65.

Aleesha Powell led the Pirates with 17 points, three rebounds, four assists. Shaken Richardson tallied 15 points, three rebounds, and eight assists while T. Richardson-Smith recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. 

The Peacocks will host the Brown Bears on December 30 at 4pm.
