Khadeen Carrington paced the Pirates (8-3) with 14 points while Isaiah Whitehead added 12 points and Angel Delgado tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds in the winning effort.

The Pirates used a pair of big runs in the first half to go into the locker room with a 35-20 lead.

Seton Hall started the game on a 19-4 run. Delgado started the scoring with a jumper 29 seconds into the tilt before Desi Rodriguez converted a traditional 3-point play at 18:51 for a 5-0 lead.

After Quadir Welton (Philadelphia, Pa./Math, Civics and Science Charter) hit a jumper for the Peacocks at 18:30, Whitehead (17:15), Carrington (17:01) and Rodriguez (16:36) each drained a trey to extend the margin to 14-2.

Desport momentarily halted the run with a layup at 16:08, but Michael Nzei scored in the lane at 15:55 and Rodriguez capped the run with his second triple at 15:13 for a 19-4 margin.

Saint Peter's then used a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to 19-14. Welton started the spurt with a free throw at 14:49 before Trevis Wyche (Neptune, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) kissed the ball off the glass at 14:12 and Hawkins drilled a 3-pointer at 13:39. Wyche recorded his second jump hook at 12:07 before Chazz Patterson (Brown Mills, N.J./Trenton Catholic) capped the run with a jumper at 10:09 to make it a five-point game.

Seton Hall then closed the half on a 16-6 run, including scoring 13-straight points to go into the break with a 35-20 lead. Carrington powered the run with five points.

The Pirates then started the second half on a 16-3 run and never looked back en route to the 72-46 victory.

Wyche and Cameron Jones (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) each posted six points and Patterson recorded five points and seven rebounds for the Peacocks. Freshman Samuel Idowu (Brooklyn, N.Y./Lafayette Educational Complex) notched his first collegiate points in the second half on a jumper with 3:39 left in the tilt.

The contest featured three former teammates from Lincoln High School. Elisha Boone (Laurelton, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln) faced his former teammates Whitehead and Desi Rodriguez, who are sophomores at Seton Hall.

The game marked the 87th meeting between the two teams dating back to the 1931-32 season, including 67-straight meetings. Peacocks head coach John Dunne has been part of the rivalry for the last 15 years after serving as an assistant coach under former Seton Hall head coach Louis Orr for five years and then serving as head coach in Jersey City for the last 10 seasons.
