Box Score RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan defeated Saint Peter's 5-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's soccer action on Wednesday.
Kelly Jamison (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) made four saves for the Peacocks (2-10, 0-5 MAAC) while Kelsey Nugent (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) had a team-high five shots in the loss.
Nicole Copping paced the Jaspers (7-3-1, 2-0-1 MAAC) with one goal and three assists while Emily Ude added two tallies and Erica Modena and Lizzy Carlson also found the twine. Kristen Skonieczny turned away four shots in the winning effort.
Manhattan scored three times in the first half and two times in the second en route to the victory on its home field under the lights.
Carlson got the scoring started off a pass from Colleen Kavanagh off a corner kick at the 7:33 mark for a 1-0 lead. Copping then stole the ball from a defender and found the back of the net at the 16:40 mark for a two-goal lead. Copping capped the first-half scoring by setting up the final tally of the half along with Ude when the duo connected with Modena at 26:54 for a 3-0 lead at the break.
Ude scored off feeders from Copping and Modena at the 51:50 mark before Copping capped her three assist evening when she connected with Ude at 66:35 to seal the 5-0 victory.
Mia Greene (Rahway, N.J./Rahway) had a pair of shots turned away from Skonieczny in the 18th and 89th minute while Brooke Trotta (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) (28th minute) and Genesis Castrellon (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito Academy) (72nd minute) also had shots stopped by the net minder in the match.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Oct. 14 at home against Monmouth in an hOURglass Rivalry matchup. Match time is 3 p.m.
