Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield downed Saint Peter's 3-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's volleyball action on Saturday. The Stags won the three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-12.
Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) paced the Peacocks (2-11, 0-4 MAAC) with nine digs and five kills. Kenyale McGinnis (Irving, Texas/Irving) added seven digs and three kills and Kaitlyn Sitton (Brush Praire, Wash./Praire) posted a team-high 14 assists in the loss.
Skyler Day registered a double-double with 12 digs and 10 kills to power Fairfield (6-7, 2-2 MAAC) while Chanel Cooper recorded 13 digs and Kiley Lingenfelter dished out 22 assists in the winning effort.
In the first set, the Stags jumped out to a 8-2 lead and Saint Peter's could get no closer than five points and Fairfield took the first set, 25-15.
The Peacocks trailed 5-4 in the second set before the Stags used a 10-1 run en route to a 25-9 second-set win.
After Saint Peter's scored the first point of the third set, Fairfield rolled off the next eight points. The Peacocks could get no closer than six points the rest of the way with Fairfield clinching the three-set win with a 25-12 victory in the third set.
Saint Peter's remains in the Nutmeg State on Sunday when it travels to Quinnipiac. Match time is 1 p.m.
