Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Marist defeated Saint Peter's 3-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's volleyball action on Saturday.
Amanda Colombo (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) paced the Peacocks with nine digs and six kills. Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) posted 20 digs and five kills while Mackenzie Alvarez (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) had a team-high 18 assists in the loss.
Mackenzie O'Brien powered the Red Foxes with 12 kills and six digs. Amanda Schlegel tallied 19 assists and 10 digs in the winning effort.
In the first set with Marist holding a 7-5 lead, the Red Foxes went on a 7-3 run to grab a 14-8. Marist posted 11 of the final 18 points to take the first set 25-15.
The Red Foxes started the second set on a 7-1 run and then used a 10-5 run spurt to extend the margin to 17-6 advantage. The Peacocks rolled off five of the next seven points to trim the margin to 19-13, but Marist went on to win the set, 25-17.
In the third set, the Red Foxes opened up a 17-9 lead before Saint Peter's answered with a 6-1 run to trim the margin to 18-15. With Marist holding a 19-16 edge, the Red Foxes ended the match by posting six of the final seven points to earn a 25-17 third-set win.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Sunday at Siena. Match time is 1 p.m.
