Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Niagara defeated Saint Peter's 3-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's soccer action on Saturday. The Bayonne Special Needs Academy joined the Peahens during pregame.
Michelle Laz (Georgetown, Del. / Sussex Tech.) scored her fourth goal of the season for the Peacocks (2-12-0, 0-7-0 MAAC) while Kelly Jamison (Jackson, N.J. / Jackson Memorial) made eight saves in the loss.
Laz stole the ball from the defender and kicked it into the netting, bringing the score to 2-1 Niagara in the 2nd half. Jamison made three saves in a row during the 81st minute of the game.
Laura Ortiz paced the Purple Eagles (7-5-2, 5-2-0 MAAC) with her fourth goal of the season in the first half at the 23:36 mark, assisted by Hayley Besaw, followed by another tally at the 60:16 mark. Kelsey Lafferty scored at the 46:11 mark with a 30 yard kick into the high right netting.
Niagara now leads the overall series vs. Saint Peter's 16-6-0.
The Peahens will head to Iona College to face the Gaels on October 21.
