Canisius Downs Saint Peter's Women's Volleyball 3-1

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Canisius defeated Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's volleyball contest on Saturday.

Amanda Colombo (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) paced the Peacocks (2-8, 0-2 MAAC) with nine kills while Meredith Przybocki (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) and Dayana Arrufat-Rondon (Trujillo, Puerto Rico/Carvin School) each recorded seven kills. Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) tallied a team-high 28 assists in the loss.

Rachel Kline led the way for the Golden Griffs (2-10, 2-1 MAAC) with 14 kills on the afternoon, while both Katlyn Tyler and Jacklyn Malusa finished with eight kills each in the winning effort.

Canisius won the contest in four sets to win its second conference victory of the season.

In the opening set, Canisius started fast, taking a 12-2 lead. The Golden Griffs did not relinquish its advantage, taking the first game, 25-13.

Second set, both teams exchanged points in the early going, with Canisius holding an 8-7 edge. The Golden Griffs used four straight scores to propel to a 25-13 set victory.

Down 21-19 in the third set, Saint Peter's tallied six consecutive scores to avoid the sweep and take third game, 25-19.

In the fourth set, the Golden Griffs opened up a 12-7 advantage over the Peacocks. Canisius went on to take the decisive set, 25-11.

Saint Peter's returns to action tomorrow, when the team concludes its annual upstate road trip against Niagara. Opening serve is slated for 1 p.m.
