Bryant Upends Saint Peter's Men's Soccer In Final Eight Minutes, 2-1

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant scored twice in the final seven minutes and 44 seconds to rally past Saint Peter's 2-1 in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday.

Luke Fairlamb (Northampton, England/Unity College) scored the Peacocks (1-5-0) tally in the first half off an Ezequiel Cei (Elizabeth, N.J./St. Benedict's) assist. Fairlamb now leads the team with two goals and one assist for five points while Cei is third on the team with a tally and a helper for three points.

David Giddings (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) made two saves in the loss.

Brett Larocque registered two assists for the Bulldogs (3-4-0) while Connor Norat and Thomas Binder each found the twine. Chris Knaub turned away five shots in the winning effort.

One year after Saint Peter's won a thrilling 1-0 double overtime game in Jersey City on a Louis Mobbs (Hull, England/Sydney Smith) goal, Bryant came back In the final eight minutes with two goals to take the first-ever meeting in Smithfield and even the series at a game apiece.

Six days after Fairlamb set up Cei's first collegiate goal, Cei returned the favor on Saturday when he took a pass from Carlos Cartegna (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field [Bryant and Stratton]) and then found Fairlamb for the first tally of the afternoon at 24:20 for a 1-0 lead for the Peacocks.

Saint Peter's would hold the edge for nearly 58 minutes before Norat tied the game at 1 off of feeders from Larocque and Lucas Guerriero at 82:16. Two minutes and 24 seconds later, Larocque was at the center of the decisive tally when he found Binder at 84:40 for the 2-1 victory.

The Peacocks had two shots in the final 10 minutes, but could not convert. Freshman Gabrielle Bandelli (Florence, Italy /Liceo Scientifico Castelnuovo), who was making his collegiate debut, had a shot sail wide at 84:11 with the game tied. Fairlamb then had the final scoring threat for Saint Peter's, but Knaub made the save at the 85:49 mark to preserve the win.

The Peacocks, who started the season with six consecutive matches on the road, will make their 2014 Jaroschak Field debut against St. Francis Brooklyn on Wednesday. Match time is 4 p.m.
