Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart defeated Saint Peter's 4-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday.
Lauren Solene (Fall City, Wash./Mount Si) made six saves in 50:19 minutes of action for the Peacocks (0-3-0) while Taylor McLean (Oakville, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic) also turned away six shots on the afternoon.
Kristin Verrette paced the Pioneers (2-1-0) with two tallies in the first half while Alexis Parlato and Emily Dawidczyk also found the twine in the winning effort.
Sacred Heart scored twice in each half en route to its fourth win in as many tries in the series. The two teams battled for the first time since 2010 on Sunday.
Verrette scored both tallies in the first half to stake the Pioneers out to a 2-0 lead. She scored unassisted on a 20-yard strike at the 13:33 mark and then found the back of the net on a through ball by Jillian Picinich at 33:21 for a two-goal edge.
Parlato increased the margin to three goals when she knocked in a shot off a save at the 50:44 mark and then Dawidczyk capped the 4-0 victory with a score off a pass from Gabby Biagini at 88:24.
Saint Peter's had three shots on the afternoon by Alexandria Couto (Wall, N.J./Wall), Ashley Drozd (Baiting Hallow, N.Y./Riverhead) and Devon Williams (Neptune City, N.J./Neptune [New Jersey City]). Williams had the only shot on goal, but her shot was stopped by Talia Schwartz in the ninth minute.
The Peacocks, who is in the midst of a six-game road trip, completes its Northeast Conference tour at Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday. Match time is 5:30 p.m.
