LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - For the second consecutive year, Isaiah Harris (Orange, N.J./Immaculate Conception) was named the men's Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events at the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Harris picked up where he left off from yesterday's first place finish, winning the high jump with a 2.09 meter effort. Harris completed the trifecta, coming in first place men's triple jump of 15.38 meters. His 15.38 meter mark broke his own MAAC record set a year ago.
The men's team came in fifth place overall with 74 points. The women's team came in fourth place with 78.5 points. The Monmouth Hawks men's and women's team each captured the first place finish.
Sunita Kumar (Munich, Germany/Gymnasium Kirchheim) placed sixth in the women's 100 meter hurdles, notching a time of 15.18 seconds. Steffany Laureano (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) finished second in the 400 meter dash with a run of 56.86 seconds. Raquel Henderson (Ocean Twp, N.J./Ocean Township) and Shona Potrzuski (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) rounded out the top-10 finishes for the Peacocks. In the 200 meter dash, Laureano placed third with a 25.48 second performance.
Dexter Valley (West Orange, N.J./West Orange High School) notched a third place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.74 seconds. Tevin Cunningham (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) finished eighth in the event with a run of 50.39 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Valley finished sixth with a time of 22.58 seconds while Cunningham finished eighth.
Michael Marcano (Roselle, N.J./Roselle Catholic) came in sixth in the 100 meter dash with a 11.36 second performance. Valley finished eighth with a sprint of 11.91 seconds. Lance Weaver (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway High School) came in fourth place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.13. Karl Desil (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin Senior HS) finished second 400 meter hurdles with a 56.81 second effort. Jose Baxter (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) notched a top-10 finish with a time of 57.74 seconds.
The team of Essence Rogers (Central Islip, N.Y./Bay Shore High School), Henderson, Potrzuski and Laureano finished second in the women's 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:59.07.
In the women's triple jump, Kumar finished fourth with a leap of 11.59 meters. Jennifer Cajou (Amityville, N.Y./Farmingdale High School) placed fifth with a jump of 11.49 meters. In the women's high jump, Hasaan Smith (Newark, N.J./Malcolm X. Shabazz) finished third with a height of 1.60 meters. Cajou and Kumar finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Ieshawn Johnson (Long Island, N.J./Baldwin) finished fourth in the men's discus throw with a throw of 48.38 meters. In the women's shot put, Chandler Copeland (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Twp.) finished eighth with a toss of 11.05 meters. Regina Raglan and Aicha Elola (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln High School) rounded out the top-10 finishes in the event.
Members of the Saint Peter's track and field team return to action May 13 to compete in the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
