Harris Looks To Leap Into NCAA Track & Field Championships With Good Showing At NCAA East Preliminary Round On Friday And Saturday

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Senior Isaiah Harris (Orange, N.J./Immaculate Conception) will make his third appearance at the NCAA Championships East Preliminary Round on the campus of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., on Friday and Saturday.

Single day passes are available for $15 for adults and $10 for college students and children until 17.

Harris earned his trip to the NCAA Championships East Preliminary Round after winning the high jump and the triple jump at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships on May 3-4. The senior won the triple jump with a leap of 15.38m in Lawrenceville and goes into the NCAA Track & Field Championships Preliminary Round ranked 27th out of the 48 competitors. Harris won the high jump with a height of 2.09m and ranks 44th out of the 48 participants in the event.

Harris will start make his debut in his NCAA Championships East Preliminary Round in the triple jump on Friday at 5 p.m. The senior will then return on Saturday for the high jump at 5 p.m. The Top-12 individuals in each event will move onto the NCAA Track & Field Championships at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore.

Harris will be making his third trip to the NCAA Track & Field Championships East Preliminary Round and will be looking for his second trip to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He finished 11th (15.57m) in the triple jump in 2012 in the Preliminary Round to move onto the NCAA Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa and become the first-ever Peacock to compete in the NCAA Championships. He finished 22nd in the event on the national level with a jump of 15.22m in 2012. Last year, Harris finished 18th in the triple jump (14.96m) and 26th in the high jump (2.10m) at the NCAA Track & Field Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

The senior is finishing his career on a high note after sweeping the jumps (long, triple and high) at both the indoor and outdoor MAAC Championships to be named the Most Outstanding Field Performer at both championships. Harris also became the first Saint Peter's track and field athlete to participate in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in 2014.

Harris is an 18-time MAAC champion in his career and a three-time MAAC Most Outstanding Performer.
