Saint Peter's Baseball Falls 7-1 At Florida International In Weather Shortened Seven-Inning Game

MIAMI, Fla. – Florida International defeated Saint Peter's 7-1 in a weather shortened seven-inning non-conference baseball contest on Friday night. The game was delayed due to lightning with no outs in the bottom of the seventh before the contest was declared a final score 24 minutes later.

Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) paced the Peacocks (10-27) with a hit and a run scored while Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) drove in the squad's only run in the loss.

Gunnar McNeill fueled the Panthers (28-12) with two hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Josh Anderson added two a hit and two RBIs and Julius Gaines registered two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

Florida International jumped out to an early advantage and never looked back before the game was halted due to the weather to give the Panthers the win in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Florida International grabbed a quick 1-0 lead thanks to an Anderson sacrifice fly to right field in the first.

The Panthers added two runs in the second on a McNeill two-run single to right field to increase the advantage to 3-0.

Saint Peter's got on the scoreboard in the fourth. Kristoffersen started the frame with a double and touched home on Moore's RBI groundout to trim the margin to 3-1.

Florida International answered right back in the bottom of the inning on Brandon Gomez solo homer and an RBI single by Anderson. Gaines added an RBI double down the left field line and a run off an error in the fifth for a 7-1 advantage.

Zach Hopf (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) took the loss for the Peacocks.

Saint Peter's and Florida International continue the four-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader that consists of two nine-inning games. AJ Celentano (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) and Mark Wilson (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) will take the hill for the Peacocks.
