BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Peter's track and field team competed in the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday.
" We were due to have an overall exceptional outing," says coach Massone. "The guys have been training very hard and now have some positive results for their efforts. I feel very happy for them, and believe this could be a springboard for a surprising end to the Indoor season."
Jamel Presley (Rochester, N.Y./Rahway High School) placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.11-seconds.
Dexter Valley (West Orange, N.J./West Orange High School) placed in the top-20 in the 200-meter dash with a run of 21.94 seconds. His time is a IC4A qualifying mark and is a new Saint Peter's indoor standard. He also placed 23rd in the 400-meter dash, notching a time of IC4A qualifying time of 48.84-seconds. His time of 48.84 is also a new Saint Peter's indoor mark.
Lance Weaver (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway High School) ran in the 800-meter dash, placing 28th with a run of 1:53.02. " When you consider that Lance trains without the benefit of numerous training partners to rely on, it makes his marks all the more impressive", says coach Massone.
Sunita Kumar (Munich, Germany/Gymnasium Kirchheim) finished fourth in the Triple Jump with a leap of 11.24-meters.
The squad returns to action Feb.14-15 to compete in a Manhattan Tri-Meet.
