Box Score LOUNDONVILLE, N.Y. – Saint Peter's concluded its regular season on Friday with a 61-52 loss to Siena.
Kaydine Bent (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) paced the Peacocks with 19 points and nine rebounds. Antonia Smith (Bronx, N.Y./Dwight School) finished with 10 points and three rebounds.
Tehresa Coles finished with a game-best 21 points for the Saints. Ida Krogh chipped in with 13 points in the Siena victory.
After being knotted up late in the second half, Siena used a strong run in the final minutes to hold on for the season-sweep of the Peacocks.
Both teams exchanged baskets in the opening minutes to knot the game at six. A layup from Coles sparked a 7-0 for the Saints to give them a 13-6 advantage.
Following a Saint Peter's timeout, the Peacocks answered with a 9-1 run to take a 15-14 lead. Siena countered with a 3-pointer from Kelsey Booth to retake the lead. The Peacocks answered with back-to-back baskets to take a 19-17 advantage.
Siena responded with a 3-pointer from Coles to take the lead with 7:01 left. The Peacocks countered with a 3-ball from Hala Mostafa (Cairo, Egypt/Modern Narmer Language School) to take a 22-20 lead. The Saints answered with seven straight points to open up a 27-22 advantage. Saint Peter's scored three straight points in the final 2:37 to only trail Siena, 27-25 going into halftime.
In the second half, both teams traded baskets, with Siena out in front 39-35 with 10:24 remaining. The Saints used three straight points from Krogh to fuel a 6-0 run to take a 45-35 advantage.
Saint Peter's began its comeback trail following its timeout, stealing back the momentum from the Saints with a 14-4 run to knot the game at 49 with 3:39 left in the game.
The Saints countered, ending the game on a 12-2 run in the final minutes to hold on for the 61-52 victory.
Teresa Corchado (Willingboro, N.J./Camden Catholic) finished with eight points and six rebounds in the loss. Aziza May (South Euclid, Ohio/Charles F. Brush) finished with six points and three steals.
With the loss, Saint Peter's finishes the regular season at 3-25 overall in 2-18 in MAAC play. Siena improves to 8-20 overall and earns its third conference victory.
The Peacocks return to action Mar. 6, when they compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament.
