Quinnipiac Downs Women's Basketball, 67-44

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac rallied from a 28-21 halftime deficit to defeat Saint Peter's, 67-44, in Metro Atlantic Athletic (MAAC) action on Saturday.

Kaydine Bent (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) paced the Peacocks with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Aziza May (South Euclid, Ohio/Charles F. Brush) and Kylie Garrett (Mt. Orab, Ohio/Western Brown) each chipped in with six points.

Samantha Guastella and Brittany McQuain each scored 13 points for the Bobcats. Gillian Abshire finished with a game-best nine assists.

The Bobcats used a strong second half to take the lead and complete the comeback victory. 

Quinnipiac opened the first half on a 14-7 run, fueled by Brittany McQuain and Jasmine Martin. Saint Peter's answered with a 3-pointer from Kaycee DeVoogd (Edison, N.J./New Providence), which sparked a 12-0 run to give the Peacocks a 19-14 advantage.

The Bobcats stopped the run with a 3-ball from Martin with 3:32 left in the first half to cut the deficit to one possession. The Peacocks countered with a 3-ball from May to extend its lead. Following a Quinnipiac field goal, May drilled another from long range to give Saint Peter's a 25-19 lead. The Bobcats answered with a field goal from Samantha Guastella. Saint Peter's ended the half with a 3-pointer from Teresa Corchado (Willingboro, N.J./Camden Catholic) to take a 28-21 lead into halftime. 

In the second half, the Bobcats got hot from 3-point range, nailing seven 3-pointers to fuel a 46-14 run to give Quinnipiac the 67-44 victory.   

With the loss, Saint Peter's falls to 3-24 overall and 2-16 in conference play. Quinnipiac improves to 18-10 overall 13-5 in conference action.

Saint Peter's returns to action Feb. 26 when they host Manhattan on Senior Night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
