LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Saint Peter's women's volleyball concluded its 2014 season on Thursday with a loss to Canisius.
Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) paced the Peacocks (6-23, 3-17) with a match-high 18 kills. Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) finished with a match-high 45 assists while Kayla Howell (Monrovia, Calif./Monrovia) recorded 24 digs in the losing effort.
Rachel Kline fueled Canisius (10-20, 9-10 MAAC) with a team-best 10 kills. Grace Streicher finished with 39 assists while Emily Litwin tallied a match-high 28 digs in the winning effort.
Canisius defeated Saint Peter's in four sets to move on to the next round on the MAAC Championship Consolation bracket.
Trailing 24-19 in the opening set, the Peacocks rallied back with seven unanswered points to win 26-24 and take a 1-0 set lead.
In the second game, the Golden Griffs jumped out to a 22-12 advantage. The Peacocks made a late push to get within five, but Canisius held on for the 25-20 set victory.
Tied at 18 in the third set, Canisius finished the set on a 7-2 run to win 25-20 and take a 2-1 set lead.
In the fourth set, both teams exchanged points back and forth to knot the game at 15. Canisius used a 5-0 run to take the lead and pull away for the 25-20 set victory.
Amanda Colombo (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) finished with 12 kills and 16 digs while Lexandra Wirth (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) chipped in with 10 kills and four total blocks in her final game in a Peacock uniform.
The Peacocks finish the year 6-23 and 3-17 in MAAC play. Baehr finishes her career at Saint Peter's fourth all-time in assists (2,668) and third in assists per set (6.89).
