Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Marist defeated Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's volleyball contest on Saturday.
Marist (22-5, 14-3 MAAC) defeated the Peacocks (6-20, 3-14 MAAC) in straight sets to earn the season sweep.
In the opening game, both teams exchanged points, keeping the set close. The Red Foxes were able to pull away to win the set, 25-21.
Marist opened up the second set with a 14-5 advantage. The Peacocks scored back-to-back points to cut the deficit before the Red Foxes countered with five unanswered points en route to a 25-11 set win.
Tied at 22 in the second set, Saint Peter's scored on consecutive possessions to take a 24-22 edge. Following a timeout from Marist, the Red Foxes used a 6-2 to win 28-26 and complete the sweep.
Saint Peter's returns to action tomorrow for its regular season finale against Siena. Tomorrow will also serve as the team's Senior Day, where Dayana Arrufat-Rondon, Brittany Smith, Kristina Baehr and Lexandra Wirth will be honored for their hardwork and dedication to the program and to Saint Peter's University. Opening serve is slated for 1 p.m.
