Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Fairfield scored early in the first half and held on for a 1-0 win against Saint Peter's in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's soccer action on Wednesday.
David Giddings (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) made four saves for the Peacocks (2-8-0, 0-2-0 MAAC) in the loss.
Jordan Emsley scored the Stags (4-3-3, 1-1-1 MAAC) goal while Matt Turner made one save on the afternoon.
Fairfield scored early on a windy day in Jersey City and the goal stood up to help the Stags to its second-straight win against Saint Peter's.
After a Peacocks' defender tried to clear the ball out of harms way, the ball went straight to Emsley, who turned and knocked the ball into the lower netting at the 4:31 mark.
Saint Peter's had several chances to score in the match, but could not convert. Louis Mobbs (Hull, England/Sydney Smith) had a scoring chance thwarted when Hrvoje Glaven headed the ball over the netting in the 16th minute. Luke Fairlamb (Northampton, England/Unity College) nailed a free kick that was stopped by Turner in the 18th minute. In the second half, Saint Peter's only shot on goal was drilled off the post by Michael Broncati (Petropolis, Brazil/Norwalk [Conn.]) in the 47th minute.
The Peacocks return to action on Saturday when the squad hosts Niagara at 3:30 p.m.
