Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Greta Vogel (Fountain Hills, Ariz./Fountain Hills [Scottsdale Community College]) and Devon Williams (Neptune City, N.J./Neptune [New Jersey City]) each scored in their final collegiate game, but Manhattan came away with a 4-2 win against Saint Peter's in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's soccer season finale for both teams on Wednesday.
Vogel, who will finish her career ranked 10th in program history with 11 goals, found the twine for the fourth time this season for the Peacocks (1-18-0, 1-9-0 MAAC) in the second half after posting a hat trick against Canisius on Sept. 18 to finish the season with four goals and one assist for nine points.
Williams notched her first goal in a Saint Peter's uniform on a penalty kick to finish the year with a tally and two assists for four points. Williams, who played her first two seasons down the street at New Jersey City University concludes her four-year career with seven goals and eight assists for 22 points.
Aislinn Mcllvenny, who was playing her final game for the Jaspers (8-8-2, 3-5-2 MAAC) on the afternoon, paced the team with a goal and an assist while Tara Teal also had a goal and an assist and Lizzy Carlson and Dylan Burns each found the twine in the winning effort.
Manhattan scored the first two goals of the game and then answered each time Saint Peter's scored to earn the win in the regular season finale.
Mcllvenny had her shot stopped, but Teal was there for the rebound goal at the 35:20 mark in the first half to give the Jaspers the 1-0 lead at the break.
Teal then set up the second goal with a nice pass to Carlson at the 57:55 mark for a two-goal Manhattan margin.
The Peacocks answered when Alix Couto (Wall, N.J./Wall) had a nice serve that almost curled into the top left netting from the right for her first collegiate goal, but Vogel was there to finish the job to knock it into the left netting and trim the margin to 2-1 at the 58:35 mark.
Mcllvenny regained a two-goal margin when she converted a penalty kick after she was taken down in the box at the 63:19 mark for a 3-1 edge.
A handball in the box gave Saint Peter's a PK opportunity that Williams converted for her first goal in a Peacocks' uniform at the 65:22 mark to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Carly Perry attempted to restore a two-goal advantage for Manhattan, but her shot was stopped and knocked out in front of the net where Burns knocked back into the netting off the rebound at 73:04 to seal the 4-2 win for the Jaspers.
Lauren Solene (Fall City, Wash./Mount Si) made seven saves for Saint Peter's and Kristen Skoniecznsky turned away four shots for Manhattan.
Prior to the game, Saint Peter's honored the Manhattan seniors along with Peacock seniors Vogel, Williams and Shannon Nulty (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick). All three seniors started the game for Saint Peter's, including Nulty who missed all of the season due to an injury. Nulty played two minutes before being replaced in the match.
