Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield defeated Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's volleyball contest on Sunday.
Amanda Colombo (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) and Dayana Arrufat-Rondon (Trujillo, Puerto Rico/Carvin School) paced the Peacocks with 11 kills each, while Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) recorded a team-high 30 assists in the loss.
Hadley Orr paced the Stags with 16 kills while Megan Theiller tallied 13 kills and a .402 hitting percentage in the winning effort.
Fairfield (12-10, 8-4 MAAC) defeated Saint Peter's (6-16, 3-10 MAAC) in four sets to complete the season sweep of the Peacocks.
The Stags mounted a 20-15 edge in the first game. Saint Peter's made things close with three unanswered points to trim the deficit to two. Fairfield ended the set on a 5-2 run to win 25-20 and take a 1-0 set lead.
Trailing 17-13 in the second set, Fairfield scored four consecutive points en route to a 25-15 set victory. The Stags hit .357 in the second game on 28 attempts.
After falling behind 20-17 in the third set, Saint Peter's closed out the game on an 8-1 run to win 25-21 and avoid the sweep.
A series of 3-0 runs by the Stags in the fourth set powered Fairfield to a 25-10 victory, completing the season sweep of the Peacocks.
Kayla Howell (Monrovia, Calif./Monrovia) finished with a team-best 17 digs while Meredith Przybocki (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) accounted for two total blocks.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Nov. 1, when the team returns to the Yanitelli Center to conclude its 2014 regular season with five straight home matches. The team is set to host Niagara and opening serve is set for 1 p.m.
