Saint Peter's Downs Quinnipiac 3-0 For Season Sweep

HAMDEN, Conn. – A game-high 11 kills and .500 hitting percentage from Lauren Behrens powered Saint Peter's to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's volleyball victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday. 

Both Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) and Kayla Howell (Monrovia, Calif./Monrovia) finished with game-bests in assists and digs respectively in the winning effort.

Sierra Dawson paced the Bobcats with 21 digs, while Cheyenne Orsi finished with 11 kills.

Saint Peter's (6-15, 3-9 MAAC) defeated Quinnipiac (2-22, 0-12 MAAC) in straight sets to snap a five-match losing streak and complete the season-sweep of the Bobcats. 

The Peacocks opened up the first game with a 19-13 lead. Quinnipiac cut the deficit to one with an 8-2 to run. Saint Peter's outlasted the Bobcats 25-23 to win the game and take a 1-0 set edge.

Second set, both teams exchanged points to knot the game 10-10. An 8-3 run by the Peacocks gave the team an 18-13 adavantage. Quinnipiac countered with a 5-0 game to tie the game back up. Saint Peter's closed out the set with a 7-4 spurt to win 25-22.

Trailing 19-18 in the third game, Saint Peter's scored four unanswered points to take a 22-19 lead en route to a 25-22 set victory.

Meredith Przybocki (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) and Amanda Colombo (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) each finished with five kills while Dayana Arrufat-Rondon (Trujillo, Puerto Rico/Carvin School) tallied three aces.

The 3-0 set win marked the team's first victory in straight sets since October of 2010.

Saint Peter's returns to action on Oct. 26, when the team continues its Connecticut weekend with a contest against Fairfield. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
