Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Omar Crowl (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) knocked in the game-winning goal off a corner-kick serve in the 96th minute to lift Saint Peter's past Marist 2-1 in overtime of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's soccer action on Saturday.
After a corner kick on left side, the Peacocks (3-10-0, 1-4-0 MAAC) were awarded a second corner kick serve on the far side of the field. Luke Fairlamb (Northampton, England/Unity College) served the ball right to the feet of Crowl, who drilled the ball into the netting at the 95:56 mark to give Saint Peter's the one-goal victory.
Marcel Maddee' (Berlin, Germany/Villa Elizabeth Gymnasium) also found the twine for the Peacocks off an Ezequiel Cei (Elizabeth, N.J./Saint Benedict's) helper while David Giddings (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) earned the shutout in the winning effort.
Erik Dahl posted the tally for the Red Foxes (5-5-3, 1-3-1 MAAC) and mark Rajovic made five saves in the loss.
Saint Peter's grabbed the lead early in the second half only to see Marist tie the game 20 minutes later and then the Peacocks won the game in the extra session to end a three-game losing streak against the Red Foxes.
Saint Peter's grabbed the one-goal lead when Cei had his shot graze off of the crossbar, but Maddee' was there for the rebound for his third goal of the season to give the Peacocks the lead at 49:12.
Marist tied the game 20 minutes later when Erik Dahl took a long ball and then beat both a Saint Peter's defender and the goalkeeper for an unassisted tally at 69:35.
The Peacocks had a couple of chances after the match was tied at 1, but could not convert. Cei missed high in the 73rd minute, Fairlamb had a shot saved in the 75th minute and Louis Mobbs' (Hull, England/Sydney Smith) header went wide in the 89th minute to set up Crowl's heroics
The Red Foxes had the ball on their offensive end several times, but did not register a scoring opportunity after its game-tying tally.
Saint Peter's has played to a one-goal difference in 11 of its 13 games this season, including two of its three victories.
The Peacocks return to action on Wednesday at Rider. Game time is 7 p.m.
