Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Fairfield defeated Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's volleyball contest on Sunday.
Dayana Arrufat-Rondon (Trujillo, Puerto Rico/Carvin School) paced the Peacocks with 13 kills while Lauren Behrens (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and Amanda Colombo (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) each finished with double-digit kill totals. Kristina Baehr (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) recorded a team-high 43 assists in the losing effort.
Megan Theiller tallied a game-high 21 kills in the contest. Hadley Orr finished with 15 kills while Carsen Mata recorded 48 assists in the win for the Stags.
Fairfield (9-8, 5-3 MAAC) defeated Saint Peter's (5-11, 2-5 MAAC) in four sets for its fifth conference victory of the season.
In the opening set, Fairfield jumped out to a 13-7 lead en route to a 25-16 set victory.
Down 23-13 in the second game, the Peacocks rallied to score six unanswered points and cut the deficit. Following a score from the Stags, Saint Peter's used a 4-0 run to inch close and be within a point from tying. Fairfield held on for the set victory following a kill by Theiller.
Trailing 23-20 and facing elimination in the third set, Saint Peter's scored three straight points to knot the set at 23. Fairfield countered with a point to regain the advantage.
Following a Saint Peter's timeout, the Peacocks scored three consecutive times to avoid the sweep and win the set 26-24.
In the fourth set, the Peacocks held a 22-17 edge. Fairfield mounted a comeback, using an 8-1 run to take the fourth game, 25-23.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Oct. 15, when the team travels to New York for a rematch against Iona. The Peacocks won its matchup against the Gaels earlier this season in Jersey City. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
