Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Saint Peter's defeated Quinnipiac in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's volleyball contest on Saturday.
The Peacocks (5-10, 2-4 MAAC) defeated the Bobcats (2-17, 0-7 MAAC) in five sets for the team's second conference victory of the season.
Saint Peter's and Quinnipiac split the first two sets, with the Bobcats taking the opening set 25-22 and Saint Peter's winning the second game 25-20.
Tied at 17 in the third set, the Bobcats used a 4-2 run to take a 21-19 edge. Following a Saint Peter's timeout, the Peacocks scored three straight points to take a one-point lead. Both team exchanged points with Saint Peter's in front 23-22.
Quinnipiac closed the third set with three consecutive points to win 25-23 and to take a 2-1 set lead.
Fourth set, each team exchanged points with the game tied at 16. Saint Peter's used a 5-0 run to take a 21-16 lead. The Peacocks pulled away, taking the fourth set 25-18 and forcing a decisive fifth-set.
In the fifth set, Saint Peter's jumped out to an 8-5 advantage before the two teams switched sides. The Peacocks did not concede its lead, taking the decisive fifth set 15-9.
With the victory, Saint Peter's takes a 3-2 series lead all-time against Quinnipiac. The win also serves as the team's first victory over the Bobcats as MAAC-opponents.
The team returns to action tomorrow (Oct. 12), when the team welcomes Fairfield University to the Yanitelli Center. Opening serve is slated for 1 p.m.
