Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. – Siena defeated Saint Peter's 64-47in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's basketball action on Thursday.
Kris Rolle (Roswell, Ga./Centennial [Lawson State]) paced the Peacocks with a career-high nine points and nine rebounds. Jamel Fields (Albany, N.Y./Cheshire Academy [Fairfield]) also had nine points in the loss.
Brett Bisping paced the Saints (8-12, 4-5 MAAC) with 14 points. Marquis Wright added 13 points while Lavon Long and Rob Poole each chipped in 10 points in the winning effort.
Saint Peter's jumped out to an early lead only to see Siena close the first half and open the second half strong to en route to its second-straight win against the Peacocks at the Times Union Center.
Saint Peter's jumped out to a 7-3 lead inn the first six minutes of the game thanks to points from four different Peacocks.
Siena then scored the next five points off a 3-pointer from Evan Hymes and a layup by Imoh Silas for an 8-7 edge with 12:32 left in the half.
Fields gave Saint Peter's the lead for the final time in the stanza on a trey at 12:15 for a 10-8 advantage.
The Saints then went on 12-5 spurt to take a 20-15 lead with 8:14 on the clock. Bisping paced Siena with five points in the run.
Desi Washington (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin [Delaware State]) trimmed the margin to 20-18 on a 3-pointer at 7:54, but the Saints went on a 10-4 run to increase its lead to eight points with 3:23 remaining in the half. Wright and Bisping each had four points in the span.
The Peacocks scored four of the final six points in the last three minutes to cut the margin going into the locker room to 32-26.
Powered by five points from Poole, Siena started the second half on an 11-2 run to take a 44-28 lead with 16:38 left.
Saint Peter's went on an 8-2 spurt to trim the margin to 46-36 thanks to four points from Fields. The Saints then went on a 13-5 run and the Peacocks could get no closer the rest of the way.
Saint Peter's returns home to host Iona on Sunday. Game time is 2 pm.
