Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Delaware defeated Saint Peter's 2-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Friday.
David Giddings (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) made seven saves for the Peacocks' (1-4-1) in the loss.
Guillermo Delgado and Prince Nartley both scored for the Blue Hens (6-1-0) while Borja Barbero turned away four shots in the winning effort.
Delaware scored a goal in each half to earn its second win in five tries against Saint Peter's.
With 15 seconds left in the first half, Kyle Nuel served a corner kick from left to right and Delgado booted the ball in the twine to give the Blue Hens a 1-0 edge. Delgado added to his national-leading goal total with his ninth score of the year.
Nartley then converted a penalty kick in the 60th minute to seal the victory.
Saint Peter's had several scoring chances in the game, but could not convert. The squad's best chance to find the back of the net came in the 82nd minute when Rafael Braga (Union, N.J./Union) had his shot saved by Barbero and then Marcel Maddee' (Berlin, Germany/Gymnasium Villa Elisabeth) missed the rebound high.
The Peacocks return to action on Tuesday at Binghamton. Game time is 7 p.m.
